Hands up if you started 2023 with a list of goals and plans and resolutions for the year ahead? Hands up if you haven’t been back and checked in on that list of goals since, ooooh, the middle of January? If you’re sat there with both hands in the air, I can assure you that you aren’t alone.
It seems we all start the year full of gusto and motivation and plenty of intention, and then, well, life kinda gets in the way. Before too long we forget all about those big dreams and goals we planned out back in January. Or perhaps you can remember exactly what your goals were, but you’re avoiding thinking about them because you feel guilty about not making as much progress as you’d have liked? Yep, been there too.
And it’s no surprise really, is it? 12 months is a big old chunk of time, and when we set those goals for ourselves in January, we can’t possibly foresee the curve balls or hurdles we might have to overcome throughout the year. We can’t see how our plans might change, or how the goals we thought were perfect might not feel right anymore.
And that’s exactly why I like to conduct a little mid-year check in. I reflect on the goals I set for myself, notice what is and isn’t bringing me joy, and celebrate my achievements. I look ahead to the end of the year, spend some time thinking about how I’d love the next 6 months to pan out, and adjust my goals where necessary to help me stay motivated and energised.
These mid-year check ins give me the time and space to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and get clear on how everything is going. Plus, taking stock at the midpoint of the year allows me to let go of any goals that are no longer serving me, and redirect all of my energy into the stuff that’s going to add more joy to my life.
If you fancy conducting your own mid-year check in this year, I’m hosting a workshop to help you do exactly that. We’ll gather together for 90 minutes on Thursday 29th June to reflect on the year so far and set some clear intentions for the rest of 2023. You’ll leave the workshop feeling proud of what you’ve already achieved, and ready to make the next 6 months as joyful as possible.
The workshop will take place on Zoom, meaning you can join from wherever you are in the world, and you don’t even have to change out of your pyjamas! And if you can’t make the live workshop time, you’ll receive a recording of the session so that you can rewatch it at any time.
